Robert J. Barnes, MD
Dr. Barnes specializes in treatment of patients with various forms of glaucoma, glaucoma lasers and glaucoma surgery, cataracts, laser cataract surgery and general eye care. Dr. Barnes started Glenn Ellyn Ophthalmology in 1986.
Dr. Barnes received his medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed his internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University Medical Center. He then completed his Ophthalmology residency at Loyola’s School of Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
Dr. Barnes served as a clinical associate professor of glaucoma surgery and ophthalmology at Loyola University Medical Center for 30 years.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society and the Chicago Glaucoma Society.
Kimberly J. Estes, MD
Dr. Estes specializes in treatment of patients with advanced cataracts, laser-assisted cataract surgery and general eye care.
Dr. Estes is a graduate from Creighton University School of Medicine. She performed her Transitional Internship at MacNeal Hospital then completed her Ophthalmology Residency at Loyola University Medical Center and Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. Dr. Estes is a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist and Cataract Surgeon.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Estes is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Tyler Q. Kirk, MD
Dr. Kirk is a third-generation ophthalmologist who specializes in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, complex cataract surgery and laser-assisted cataract surgery with advanced technology lenses.
Dr. Kirk received his medical degree from the University of Virginia. He then completed his internship and ophthalmology residency at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Kirk completed fellowship training in glaucoma and complex cataract surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Kirk is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Glaucoma Society, Chicago Ophthalmological Society and Chicago Glaucoma Society.
Sophia M. Sarkos, MD
Dr. Sarkos completed her undergraduate studies at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and received her medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1993.
After an internship at the renowned Cleveland Clinic, she completed her residency in ophthalmology and was awarded a clinical research fellowship at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Sarkos also completed an anterior segment and refractive fellowship with John Doane, MD of Discover Vision Centers in Leawood, Kansas.
